Though children aged 10 - 14 are the most common candidates for orthodontia (putting braces on teeth to straighten them and correct misalignment), many adults also take advantage of the procedure. Modern braces are made from natural looking, lightweight materials so they're easier to wear and less visible. Children usually wear them for about two years; adults may need to wear them longer.
